How Our Voices Are Heard
The U.S. Senate has 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats (including two independents). Democrats control the chamber as the vice-president can break tie votes. There are 35 seats up in 2022 - including a special election in Oklahoma - of which 21 are held by the GOP. That party can retake control with a net gain of one or more seats. All 435 U.S. House seats will be on the ballot this November and 36 states will vote for governor.
